Materia is a platform that can bring to light the collaborative research being done by scholars across all specialties. The first issue consists of research on easel paintings, as many of the Materia team are paintings specialists, but the team's wish is to highlight other artistic and cultural mediums of expression in future issues as well as explore the limits of what is possible in a digital format, such as video and audio.
