Joint ICOM-CC working group Interim meeting: CALL FOR PAPERS

Joint ICOM-CC working group Interim meeting: CALL FOR PAPERS
The Training and Education needs for the Conservation of Modern and Contemporary Art
Save the Dates, June 12-13, 2010
The Training and Education and Modern Materials and Contemporary Art working groups (WGs) of ICOM-CC will be holding a joint Interim meeting in Maastricht on June 12-13 to discuss the conservation profession’s training and education needs for modern and contemporary art. The timing of the two day combined meeting is set to follow on directly from the “Modern Art: Who Cares II” conference, which is scheduled for June 9-11 in Amsterdam.
It is anticipated that a combination of keynote speakers, submitted papers, panel discussions and break-out sessions will be included in the meeting, to address key issues such as: How are the various training programs adapting to the emerging needs of modern and contemporary art conservation? Is the development of existing programs sufficient, or is a completely new approach needed? Should more focus be placed on post-programme and/or mid-career education to provide enhanced training for conservators wishing to move into this area? Should training schools work more collaboratively to offer a range of approaches and focus on different specializations?
